Taking art from Uzbekistan: everything you need to know

November 1, 2026 · 2 min read

Many guests traveling to Uzbekistan want to take home a real work of art. But many people are stopped by one question: "Can the picture be taken across the border? What documents are needed?" In this guide, we will explain everything in simple language.

Asar passport and export permit

Documents are required to export a work of art from Uzbekistan. At the Art Qal'a gallery, with each work comes the following:

  • Passport (certificate) of the work is a document confirming the authenticity and information of the work.
  • Export Permit for Customs.

We prepare these documents ourselves — you don't need to go anywhere. You can easily take the work out of Uzbekistan or send it.

Do you pick up or do we ship?

Gallery pick-up. You can pick up the artwork from the gallery yourself for free.

Around Tashkent. For purchases above a certain amount, delivery throughout Tashkent is free, and at least it is paid - the curator will tell you the exact price in advance.

All over Uzbekistan. We deliver to all regions, the price is agreed in advance.

Abroad. Worldwide by Uzbekistan Post (UzPost) — EMS express or ordinary parcel. Each artwork page shows the estimated shipping cost to your country. Shipping will be refunded if shipment takes more than 1 month.

How is the artwork packaged?

  • Framed works will be securely packed as is or unframed and packed separately.
  • Unframed paintings are rolled and shipped in a special tube.
  • If you have purchased a protective case, the work will be placed in it.

Shipments are insured and proof of insurance will be provided to you.

How to pay?

Payment is 100% in advance — before the artwork is commissioned or shipped.

  • In Uzbekistan: cash, bank card (Uzcard, Humo, Visa, Mastercard), Payme, Click or bank transfer.
  • From abroad: by Visa / Mastercard card or international bank transfer.

The prices on the site are in US dollars, but you can pay in a currency that is convenient for you - according to the exchange rate approved by the curator.

Keep in mind

  • Import duties or taxes (if any) in the receiving country are the responsibility of the buyer.
  • If the work arrives damaged, contact us with pictures within 7 days - we will consider the situation and solve it together with you.

If you have any questions, send a request from the artwork page — our curator will explain all the details.
