A conversation in a tea room
by Farmonov Ziyodulla · 2026
This work is one of the most energetic, avant-garde and expressive works of the famous artist Alexander Volkov dedicated to the life of Central Asia (in particular, Tashkent and the Old City). In the painting, the most ancient and favorite social place of the Uzbek people - the tea house and the lively, musical chatter (conversation) there, are reflected in fiery red and orange tones typical of the artist. In the center of the composition, a group of men play music over tea (those playing a circle and sing), drink tea from porcelain and gather around national breads (patir, kulcha). The artist has skillfully rendered their images in national caps and jackets, a circle in their hands (a traditional percussion instrument) and traditional objects around them with his geometric and expressive, thick strokes of paint. This work glorifies not only tea drinking, but sincere communication between people, brotherhood and our national musical values. It brings to your home a rich historical spirit, oriental vitality and the beauty of a unique work of art.
